When NetBeans is indexing your projects it needs certain amount of (heap) memory to finish this task. In most situations the default settings should work out of the box.

It may happen if your project is very large that the indexing will fail to finish due to low memory condition. If the project is really large it would be good to try to increase the heap size, please check FaqSettingHeapSize for how to do that.

If the project is not of an exceptional size this condition is similar to OutOfMemory condition and should be reported as an error for further investigation. Please consult FaqNetBeansAndOOME how to effectively file a memory problem.
