Are official NetBeans IDE updates available for free?

Yes, free and official NetBeans updates are available via the update center for the latest major NetBeans IDE releases. To install patches, choose Tools > Plugins > Updates from the menu. For major updates, please return to the download page and get a new (free) installer.
