XML HyperLinking Support Module Project

The goal of this effort is to make hyperlinking of tags possible in XML, DTD, XSD and other XML-related files possible in the NetBeans IDE. An implied goal of this project is to get NetBeans IDE XML Editor Hyperlinking support at par or beyond the level of support currently provided by IntelliJ IDEA 7.0.

About this project

This project got started off as part of our internship project at Sun Microsystems, Bangalore, under the mentorship of Rohan Ranade. Intially, it was announced on NetBeans Zone at Dzone and then, Geertjan Wielenga introduced the idea, on NetBeans Podcast Episode #43.

This module is being developed by Angad Singh, the Sun Campus Ambassador of JIIT University and Varun Nischal, the NetBeans Community Docs Coordinator. Read our blog posts for more information.

Implementation would take place in two phases/milestones. In it's first phase, we aim to implement hyperlinking within a DTD and DTD-constrained XML, and then this effort aims to achieve hyperlinking for XML tags, that conforms to the constraints defined by XML Schema.

You may have a look at the Project Design Document for the module. By the way, it's development is currently underway.
