WebEE Localization Test

Woodstock Test

To test Woodstock designtime l10n jars.

As Woodstock components in NB6.0 also depends on other resource files, and we are going to cover the components in NB 6.0 L10n testing, we will only sanity check the l10n jars.

  • Test Schedule:
05/11/2007 - 07/11/2007

  • Test Steps:
  1. Install NB 6.0 beta2 (http://download.netbeans.org/netbeans/6.0/beta2/)
  2. Copy localized jar file /net/shodan.sfbay/ramdisk/woodstock/src/woodstock.build15/webui/dist/webui-jsf-dt_<locale>.jar to the nb6.0 installation folder "visualweb1/modules/ext/locale/"
  3. Create Java EE 5 visual web projects; add components (Basic/Composite/Layout) to the page. Check the followings are correctly localized and displayed
    1. The default captions to the components on the page.
    2. The localizable texts in the Properties Window for corresponding components.
    3. The descriptions to the property entries for corresponding components.
    4. Some of the contextual menu for the corresponding components. And the pop-up dialog if any.
    5. Other test

As some Woodstock components' strings are from other NB 6.0 resource files, but the ml build is unavailable now, we can setup NB5.5.1 VWP environment for comparison.

Steps:

  1. Install NB5.5.1 ml and Visual Web Pack for 5.5.1 (download at http://www.netbeans.org)
  2. Hide "webui-jsf-dt_<locale>.jar" in the installation folder
  3. Install Glassfish (app server 9 u1 build14); then add it through Tools -> Server Management
  4. Create Java EE 5 visual web projects by choosing Sun Application Server as the deploy server.

Some English strings should be seen after one drops Basic or some other components to the page.
