Will any JDBC driver work with NetBeans Visual Web?

Supported drivers can be found on http://wiki.netbeans.org/DatabasesAndDrivers

NetBeans requires JDBC 3.0 compliant drivers to provide the expected design-time experience. Creator is tested against all popular databases, including Oracle (8iR3, 9iR2, 10), MS SQL Server 2005, IBM DB2 V8.2, and MySQL 5.0. Note that the same drivers are compatible with Glassfish Application Server 8, so therefore applications developed with Creator using these drivers should be easy to deploy to Application Server 8.

Before using JDBC 3.0 compliant driver, you will have to add these JDBC drivers to NetBeans To add a new JDBC 3.0 compliant driver:

  1. In Services window, expand the Databases node, right-click Drivers and choose New Driver from the pop-up menu.
  2. Select the JDBC Driver JAR/ZIP files and fill in the other details.
  3. For the DBURL field, you may use #HOSTNAME and #DATABASE as parameters (as in jdbc:mysql://#HOSTNAME/#DATABASE).

Note: NetBeans does not provide support for OEM drivers.
