How do I work with internet proxies in the NetBeans Visual Web Pack 5.5 ?

If you are behind a firewall and use a proxy to access the Internet, you will need to configure your Creator proxy settings as follows:

1. From the main menu choose Tools > Options > General Settings > System Settings.

2. Set Use Proxy to True by putting a check in the checkbox and updating the Proxy Host and Proxy Port fields with your proxy server name and port number.

You would need to configure the proxies in the IDE, if you are accessing web services on the internet.

If you are using web services deployed to servers on "localhost" (your own machine), you may want to modify the browser's settings to specify not to use a proxy server for "localhost":

* Internet Explorer: From the main menu choose Tools > Internet Options> Connections tab > LAN Settings > Advanced. Add localhost to the Do not use proxy list.

* Netscape: From the main menu choose Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Proxies. Enter localhost in the No Proxy for field.
