Window System Test Specification for "NetBeans 7.1"

Introduction: API: New WindowSystemListener to receive notifications before/after the window system loads/saves.

API: Support for multiple window layouts (aka perspectives or roles), see WindowManager.setRole(String)

Usability: Close/minimize/float/drag the whole window group.

Test suite: Checking the options in Window main menu

Purpose: In 7.1 you can now Maximize, Float, Float Group, Minimize, Minimize Group, Dock a window .
Setup: No special setup is needed.

  1. Maximize a window from window main menu
    1. Go to Window -> Configure Window -> Maximize
    • EXPECTED RESULT: The current window that is selected is maximized
  2. Float a window from window main menu
    1. Go to Window -> Configure Window -> Float
    • EXPECTED RESULT: The current window that is selected floats i.e it becomes a seperate window other than the window of netbeans ide which is open
  3. Float a window group from window main menu
    1. Select a window group . For example : Window group of Projects Files and Services
    2. Go to Window -> Configure Window -> Float Group
    • EXPECTED RESULT: The current window group that is selected floats i.e it becomes a seperate window other than the window of netbeans ide which is open
  4. Minimize a window from window main menu
    1. Go to Window -> Configure Window -> Minimize
    • EXPECTED RESULT: The current window is minimized.
  5. Minimize a window group from window main menu
    1. Select a window group . For example : Window group of Projects Files and Services
    2. Go to Window -> Configure Window -> Minimize group
    • EXPECTED RESULT: The current window group that is selected gets minimized
  6. Dock a window which is floating from window main menu
    1. Select a window which is already floating.
    2. Go to Window -> Configure Window -> Dock
    • EXPECTED RESULT: The current window which is floating gets docked in its original place.
  7. Dock a window group which is floating from window main menu
    1. Select a window group which is already floating. For example : Window group of Projects Files and Services
    2. Go to Window -> Configure Window -> Dock group
    • EXPECTED RESULT: The current window group which is floating gets docked in its original place.

Purpose: In 7.1 you can now Maximize, Float, Float Group, Minimize, Minimize Group, Dock, close, move, size a non document window.
Setup: No special setup is needed.

  1. Maximize a window from the context menu of non document window
    1. Right click on a non document window and click on Maximize
    • EXPECTED RESULT: The current window that is selected is maximized
  2. Minimize a window from the context menu of non document window
    1. Right click on a non document window and click on Minimize
    • EXPECTED RESULT: The current window that is selected is minimized
  3. Minimize a window group from the context menu of non document window
    1. Right click on a non document window and click on Minimize Group
    • EXPECTED RESULT: The current window group to which that window belongs is minimized
  4. Float a window from the context menu of non document window
    1. Right click on a non document window and click on Float
    • EXPECTED RESULT: The current window floats i.e it becomes a seperate window other than the window of netbeans ide which is open
  5. Float a window group from the context menu of non document window
    1. Right click on a non document window and click on Float Group
    • EXPECTED RESULT: The current window group to which that window belongs floats i.e it becomes a seperate window other than the window of netbeans ide which is open
  6. Dock a window from the context menu of non document window
    1. Right click on a non document window which is already floating and click on Dock
    • EXPECTED RESULT: The current window that is floating gets docked in its original place
  7. Dock a window group from the context menu of non document window
    1. Right click on a non document window which is already floating and click on Dock Group
    • EXPECTED RESULT: The current window group that is already floating gets docked in its original place
  8. Move a window from the context menu of non document window
    1. Right click on a non document window and click on Move
    • EXPECTED RESULT: Some portion of the window group gets highlighted where you can move your selected window
  9. Move a window group from the context menu of non document window
    1. Right click on a non document window and click on Move Group
    • EXPECTED RESULT: Some portion of some other window group gets highlighted where you can move your selected window group
  10. Size a window group from the context menu of non document window
    1. Right click on a non document window and click on Size Group
    2. After this you can resize the window group by clicking exactly on the boundary of the window group and draging it while holding the click for sometime.
    • EXPECTED RESULT: In the center of the window group the current size of it is displayed . You are able to resize a window group

    • EXPECTED RESULT: The current window that is selected is closed
  12. close a window group from the context menu of non document window
    1. Right click on a non document window and click on close group
    • EXPECTED RESULT: The current window group to which that window belongs is closed

Purpose: In 7.1 you can now Close Group, Minimize Group, Float Group,Move Group,Size Group a non document window group.
Setup: No special setup is needed.

  1. Close a window group from the context menu when clicking outside non-document tab
    1. Right click outside a non document window tab and click on Close Group
    • EXPECTED RESULT: The window group is closed
  2. Minimize a window group from the context menu when clicking outside non-document tab
    1. Right click outside a non document window tab and click on Minimize Group
    • EXPECTED RESULT: The window group is minimized
  3. Float a window group from the context menu when clicking outside non-document tab
    1. Right click outside a non document window tab and click on Float Group
    • EXPECTED RESULT: The window group floats i.e it becomes a seperate window other than the window of netbeans ide which is open
  4. Move a window group from the context menu when clicking outside non-document tab
    1. Right click outside a non document window tab and click on Move Group
    • EXPECTED RESULT: Some portion of some other other window group gets highlighted where you can move your selected window group
  5. Size a window group from the context menu when clicking outside non-document tab
    1. Right click outside a non document window tab and click on Size Group
    2. After this you can resize the window group by clicking exactly on the boundary of the window group and draging it while holding the click for sometime.

Purpose: In 7.1 you can now Close, Close all, Close other, Maximize, Float, Dock, Clone a document window. You can create a new document tab group and also collapse it whenever you wish.
Setup: No special setup is needed.

  1. Close a document window from the context menu of document window
    1. Right click on a document window tab and click on Close
    • EXPECTED RESULT: The window is closed
  2. Close all document windows from the context menu of document window
    1. Right click on a document window tab and click on Close all
    • EXPECTED RESULT: All document windows get closed
  3. Close other document windows from the context menu of document window
    1. Right click on a document window tab and click on Close other
    • EXPECTED RESULT: All other document windows get closed except the current document window on which you right clicked
  4. Maximize a document window from the context menu of document window
    1. Right click on a document window tab and click on Maximize
    • EXPECTED RESULT: The document window gets maximized
  5. Float a document window from the context menu of document window
    1. Right click on a document window tab and click on Float
    • EXPECTED RESULT: The document window floats i.e it becomes a seperate window other than the window of netbeans ide which is open
  6. Dock a document window from the context menu of document window
    1. Right click on a document window which is already floating and click on Dock
    • EXPECTED RESULT: The current document window that is floating gets docked in its original place
  7. Clone a document window from the context menu of document window
    1. Right click on a document window and click on Clone
    • EXPECTED RESULT: The document window gets cloned. i.e another window tab opens with the same document
  8. Create a new document tab group from the context menu of document window
    1. Right click on a document window and click on new document tab group
    • EXPECTED RESULT: Another document tab group gets created and the current document window gets shifted to that new document tab group.
  9. Collapse document tab group from the context menu of document window
    1. Right click on a document window and click on collapse document tab group
    • EXPECTED RESULT: The two separate document tab groups get collapsed into one document tab group. NOTE : At a time only two document tab groups get merged even if you have more than two document tab groups.

Purpose: In 7.1 you can now Close all document windows.
Setup: No special setup is needed.

  1. Close all document windows from the context menu when clicking outside document tab
    1. Right click outside a document window tab and click on Close all
    • EXPECTED RESULT: All document windows get closed
