Introduction: This test specification describes the tests scenarios for Start Page. It covers the test cases for manual testing and it will serve as document for development of automated tests.

Test suite: Start Page test
Purpose: Test of Start Page invocation and links availability
Setup: Run IDE with clean userdir
- Open Start Page
- Select menu Help | Start Page.
- EXPECTED RESULT: Start Page appears as a new tab in explorer and its name is 'Start Page'.
- Try disabling and enabling Show on startup
- Uncheck Show on startup checkbox on Start Page.
- Restart IDE.
- Select menu Help | Start Page.
- Check Show on startup checkbox on Start Page.
- Restart IDE.
- EXPECTED RESULT: Start Page should appear on startup when checkbox is checked and should not appear when checkbox is unchecked.
- Sample Projects
- Click on links in Sample Projects frame.
- EXPECTED RESULT: New Project wizard is opened and project corresponding to the link's name is selected.
- Try clicking on Java and Sun logos
- Click on the Java logo in lower right part of Start Page.
- Click on the Sun Microsystems logo in lower left part of Start Page.
- EXPECTED RESULT: Corresponding page is opened in HTML Browser.
- Try clicking on Getting Started links
- Click on the links in Getting Started frame.
- EXPECTED RESULT: Page corresponding to the link's name is opened in HTML Browser.
- Try clicking on Articles & News links
- Click on the links in Articles & News frame.
- Click on the All News link.
- Click on the All Articles link.
- EXPECTED RESULT: Page corresponding to the link's name is opened in HTML Browser.
- Try clicking on Learn More About
- Have Welcome to NetBeans IDE tab selected.
- Click on the links in Learn More About section.
- Click on More Demos and Tutorials >> link.
- EXPECTED RESULT: Page corresponding to the link's name is opened in HTML Browser.
- Try invoking Plugin manager from Start Page
- Have Welcome to NetBeans IDE tab selected.
- Click on the link Add Plugins in Extend Your IDE section.
- EXPECTED RESULT: Plugin Manager is opened wit Available Plugins tab active.
- Try recent projects
- Create or open some project.
- Close the project.
- Check if the project appeared in recent projects.
- Check persistence of this project in recent projects (close/open Start Page and IDE restart).

- Close Start Page
- Push x-widget on the tab of the Start Page .
- EXPECTED RESULT: The 'Start Page' tab will disappear.
