How do I handle corrupt source files after committing to a CVS server?

When you are committing from under both Windows and Linux to a CVS server, you may end up having corrupt source files which source files containing blank line between each original line.

The solution, as described here How various line separators (EOLs) are handled? , is to convert your source files to UNIX format. Please make sure that you understand the explanation on the linked page and know the reasons why you got into this situation. This will help you not to make the same mistake again.

When you want to convert your Java projects from DOS (CRLF style) source format style to UNIX format, you may find this recursive converter script very handy:

find . -type f -iname *.java -exec dos2unix -U --force {} \;
