Upgrade from 8.1 to Patch 1 sanity test

  1. Install JDK 8 Update 73
  2. Install NetBeans 8.1 distribution assigned to you (Java SE, Java EE, C/C++, HTML5/JavaScript, All)
  3. In case of All distribution activate some functionality area in Tools > Plugins > Installed
  4. Make sure that Certified Plugins Update Center is Active and Edit its URL to http://updates.netbeans.org/netbeans/updates/8.1/uc/final/certified/catalog_stage.xml.gz in Tools > Plugins > Settings
  5. Make sure that NetBeans Distribution Update Center is Active and Edit its URL to http://updates.netbeans.org/netbeans/updates/8.1/uc/final/distribution/catalog_stage.xml.gz in Tools > Plugins > Settings
  6. Switch to Updates tab, make sure that all plugins are selected for update and click Update button
  7. After NetBeans IDE restarts itself sanity test area assigned to you
  8. Exit NetBeans IDE and uninstall it

Extend/Activate/Upgrade from 8.1 to Patch 1 test

  1. Install JDK 8 Update 73
  2. Consult Extend/Activate/Upgrade test matrix
  3. Download NetBeans 8.1 distribution in the OS column and row with your assignment(s) (Java SE, Java EE, C/C++, HTML5/JavaScript or All)
  4. Install the distribution as root/administrator if you see root, user in the install/use role column of your assignment or install the distribution as ordinary user if you see user, user in the install/use role column of your assignment
  5. Launch NetBeans 8.1 as ordinary user
  6. In case of All distribution activate functionality assigned to you (e.g. all Java SE category plugins for A: Java SE directive) in Tools > Plugins > Installed
  7. For other distributions extend their feature set by functionality assigned to you (e.g. all PHP category plugins for E: PHP directive) in Tools > Plugins > Available Plugins and restart IDE
  8. Open some of your existing projects or create a new sample project
  9. Make sure that Certified Plugins Update Center is Active and Edit its URL to http://updates.netbeans.org/netbeans/updates/8.1/uc/final/certified/catalog_stage.xml.gz in Tools > Plugins > Settings
  10. Make sure that NetBeans Distribution Update Center is Active and Edit its URL to http://updates.netbeans.org/netbeans/updates/8.1/uc/final/distribution/catalog_stage.xml.gz in Tools > Plugins > Settings
  11. Switch to Updates tab, make sure that all plugins are selected for update and click Update button
  12. After NetBeans IDE restarts itself try to run project opened in step 8
  13. Exit NetBeans IDE and uninstall it
  14. Record date when you completed your test in the Extend/Activate/Upgrade test matrix as for example: E: Java EE, Jiří Kovalský, 2016/02/15
