If installing as root on the Solaris or Linux platforms, sometimes the Installer may not start correctly in GUI mode, and instead prints the following message:
The installer is unable to run in graphical mode.
Try running the installer with the -console or -silent flag.
This message appears if the DISPLAY variable is not set, even if the Installer is run on the local machine. Make sure the DISPLAY variable is set to :0.0 if running on the local machine.
