Building RIA with jMaki (5 minutes)

Description

This demo is part of the NetBeans Day World Tour and is used in the session “Technologies Used in Creating Rich Internet Applications”. The demo shows how to use NetBeans to develop a web application using jMaki. The demo will show how jMaki allows you to use RIA type widgets from 3rd Party toolkits.

  • NetBeans 6.0 Beta 2 with "Web and Java EE" support.
  • jMaki Plugin

  1. Make sure you have the jMaki plugin installed.

Demo

1. Create a new project "web->web application"

  • choose "jMaki Ajax Framework" for the framework
  • Choose "No CSS Style"


2. Drag a "jMaki Dojo->Drop Down Date Picker" from the palette and place it just below the "

Default Page

" line.

3. Drag a "jMaki Dojo->Editor" from the palette and place it just below the drop down date picker.

4. Drag a "jMaki Dojo->Fish Eye" from the palette and place it just below the editor.

5. Drag a "jMaki Yahoo->Weather" from the palette and place it just below the fish eye.

6. Run the web application

7. Show how each of the widgets work.
