Planned Enhancements

NOTE: These planned enhancements are now unlikely to be included in NetBeans 7.0. However, I have developed a prototype of a generated application that includes these planned enhancements. See jsfcrud-prototype-for-nb7_JsfCrudGenerator70.zip attached to this page.

  • Use h:outputLink when no user input is being submitted. This removes the roadblock that required us to use session scope instead of request scope.
  • Place managed beans in request scope.

Nice-To-Have Enhancements

The following enhancements will be considered for inclusion in NetBeans 7.0 on a time-permitting basis.

NOTE: These nice-to-have enhancements are now unlikely to be included in NetBeans 7.0.

  • Ability to generate a JSF 2.0 application with Facelets. (Rated 33 points from 8 users)
  • Generate a more real-world paging UI that lets the user click on page numbers rather than Next and Previous links. (Rated 26 points from 8 users)
  • Search functionality instead of listing all items. (Rated 23 points from 7 users)
  • Graceful failure when entities are invalid (see for instance http://www.netbeans.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=151279). (Rated 23 points from 8 users)
  • Ability to generate an application based on Hibernate non-JPA models. (Rated 16 points from 8 users)
  • Provide detail in JsfCrudELResolver javadoc.
  • Access to the JSF Pages wizard from the JSF category as well as the Persistence category (http://www.netbeans.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=143963).
