How do I start PHP development?

Download, install, and configure the Apache HTTP Server, the MySQL database server, the PHP engine, and the NetBeans IDE PHP Bundle. Then create a PHP project. To develop real-life applications, you will then establish a connection to the database server.

Note: You can install the Apache server, the PHP engine and a MySQL database together in an amp package. We document how to install XAMPP on Windows, for example, but you can use any amp package.

To debug your PHP projects, download, install, and enable XDebug.

The way you configure the environment for PHP development depends on the operating system you use.

Applies to: NetBeans IDE 6.5 and later

Platforms: All
