Are official NetBeans IDE updates available for free?

Yes, free and official NetBeans updates are available via the update center for the latest major NetBeans IDE releases. To install patches, choose Tools > Plugins > Updates from the menu. For major updates, please return to the download page and get a new (free) installer.

Please, refer to your IDE's online help topic Updating the IDE for instructions on downloading and installing plugins and updates from the update center.

The first set of updated NetBeans modules is usually available within five weeks after the new major NetBeans IDE release. Minor NetBeans IDE releases (e.g. NetBeans IDE 6.7.1) usually cover updated modules. Subsequent NetBeans updates can be available afterwards but internal resources constraints reduce their range. The content of NetBeans IDE updates is defined by Quality Engineering and NetBeans community can help with selection of issues via Exception Reporter.
