FaqTreePackageView

Can I view the package structure of my project as a tree?

Yes.

  • NetBeans 5.x, 6.x: In the Projects window just invoke context menu View Java Packages as > Tree.
  • NetBeans 4.x: Go to Tools > Options > IDE Configuration > Look and Feel > Package View and set the Package View Type option to Tree View. The Projects window will display the package structure as a tree instead of the list of long package names.

If you actually like the basic form of the package list, but are just annoyed at node labels being too long to fit on your display, you can shorten them with an unsupported switch (e.g. add this to your netbeans.conf):

-J-Dorg.netbeans.spi.java.project.support.ui.packageView.TRUNCATE_PACKAGE_NAMES=true

Applies to: NetBeans 4.x, 5.x, 6.x

Platforms: All
