How does publishing on Plugin Portal Update Center work?

Some plugins published on NetBeans Plugin Portal were certified by a group of community verifiers and satisfy minimal Quality Criteria. Since NetBeans 6.0 it is possible to access these verified plugins on the Plugin Portal Update Center.

Plugin owners can request or cancel verification of their plugins. They can also check plugin verification status. Community verifiers should process incoming verification requests and decide if plugins are suitable for Plugin Portal Update Center or not.

If the majority of the verifier group agrees to publishing a plugin on the Plugin Portal Update Center and nobody disagrees, the plugin automatically shows up in the NetBeans Plugin Manager.
