How to install and run correctly the NetBeans 6.1 IDE on Windows Vista

If you want to install the NetBeans 6.1 IDE on Windows Vista in normal Mode, you probably run into trouble.
(If you already tried to install NetBeans 6.1 IDE, than delete all folders and files that NetBeans created like .nbi; .netbeans)

To avoid this do the following:

1. Before you execute the NetBeans Setup.exe, right click on the file and select run as Administrator
2. Now you have to confirm the UAC Dialog from Windows Vista, now the setup runs with the privileges of an Administrator
3. Finish the setup process, a shortcut on the desktop now is available
   

To run the NetBeans 6.1 IDE correcty, everytime you want to use it, do the following:

1. Right click the shortcut on the Desktop
2. Select the Compatibility tab
3. In the section Privilege Level select run this program as an administrator
4. Click Apply and/or Ok

From now on when you click the shortcut to start the NetBeans 6.1 IDE, the UAC from Windows Vista pops up. This is the safest way for your Computer to run NetBeans.
If you run NetBeans with the steps mentioned before, you be able to normaly make updates or install new plugins to the IDE.
