How do I unsubscribe?
To unsubscribe from a list, send a blank message to the unsubscribe address for that list. The unsubscribe address is shown along with the susbscribe addresses on the mailing lists pages: e.g. unsubscribe addresses for top-level lists are shown on the top-level lists page.
As an example, say you want to unsubscribe from the nbusers@netbeans.org list. As shown on the top-level lists page, the unsubscribe address is :
nbusers-unsubscribe@netbeans.org
If you are subscribed to the digest version (where you get all message in one email), then the unsubscribe address is:
nbusers-digest-unsubscribe@netbeans.org
You'll receive a confirmation request - reply to that, and you're done.
What if I cannot send messages from the account I want to unsubscribe?
If you can't sent mail from your old address, you need to send a special type of unsubscribe request - one that says "unsubscribe an address different to the one this message is coming from". To do this send a blank message to a special format address:
listname-unsubscribe-user=host.domain@netbeans.org
Where:
- listname is the list name e.g. nbannounce, or nbusers
- user=host.domain is your address with the "@" replaced by "=". So for eg jsmith@hotmail.com would become jsmith=hotmail.com
So if you were trying to unsubscribe your old address jsmith@hotmail.com from the nbusers list, you would send a blank
message to :
nbusers-unsubscribe-jsmith=hotmail.com@netbeans.org
You'll receive a confirmation request - reply to that, and you're done.
