FaqCplusPlusRemoteSocketException
When I try to add a remote development host, I get a socket exception saying "Reply from SOCKS server has bad version". What can I do about it?
Something in some Gnome login environments interferes with the SSH connection used by the C/C++ remote development feature. We're still looking into exactly what causes this but we can suggest a workaround. If you unset the GNOME_DESKTOP_SESSION_ID environment variable prior to starting the NetBeans IDE, then you can successfully create remote connections.
