When I try debugging on on a Mac OS machine, the debugger fails. Whats going on?

Apple has customized the gdb (back-end) debugger and its customizations have diverged too far to be included in current gdb sources. We've done the best we can in discovering and dealing with them. You may have found an incompatibility we missed.

If you think you have, please file an issue at http://www.netbeans.org/community/issues.html. Be sure and specify the platform as Macintosh, OS as "Mac OS X", component as "cnd", and subcomponent "gdb".

Note: Please provide complete gdb version information. Apple's gdb lists its version as 6.3.50 but the build date and build number is actually quite important. The more information provided, the better we can be at responding to problems. Run $ gdb --version to get version information:

    $ gdb --version
    GNU gdb 6.3.50-20050815 (Apple version gdb-768) (Tue Oct 2 04:07:49 UTC 2007)

In this case, the most important part (for us) is the gdb-768. It tells the real gdb version!
