Where can I find a NetBeans user chat?
IRC
Download one of these free IRC Clients if you don't have one.
- Join the #netbeans channel on the irc.freenode.net server for the NetBeans user chat. You can even use a Java applet client if you don't have any other IRC client or you are behind a firewall which doesn't allow IRC traffic. This Java applet for netbeans users is here
- If you are a developer for NetBeans or are developing on the NetBeans platform, please feel free to join the #nbdev channel on the irc.freenode.net server. You can even use a Java applet client if you don't have any other IRC client or you are behind a firewall which doesn't allow IRC traffic. This Java applet for nbdev is here
Note: You need to be a registered user with freenode.net before you can send private messages. This is to block spam. This is pretty simple, see http://freenode.net/faq.shtml#privmsg for instructions.
Jabber
You can also use the IDE itself as a chat client. The Developer Collaboration plugin is a full-fledged Jabber (XMPP) client that lets you create public and private chat rooms and maintain a friends lists. Developer Collaboration comes with added features for developers: It supports live NetBeans project sharing and syntax coloring!
Read how to install and use the Developer Collaboration plugin.
- Connect to the public share.java.net server with your java.net login/password, and join the conversation (chatroom) labeled netbeans to talk to other users.
Tip: You can even set up your own private Collab Server.
