FaqCPlusPlusPackCompilers

Which compilers does the NetBeans C/C++ Development Pack support?

The development pack is designed to be compiler-neutral. Developers have their own favorite compiler/debugger, so we've made the NetBeans C/C++ Development Pack generic enough that it can be adapted to particular environments on Windows, Linux, Solaris, and Mac OS X.

Out of the box, it works with gcc and gdb across a variety of OSs. The GNU compilers and the Oracle Solaris Studio (Sun Studio) compilers are tested by the development pack engineering team. The engineering team expects that most other C/C++ compilers will work with the development pack, most without development pack source changes. The documentation included with the release will provides information on configuring your compiler.
