Which Ant gives better performance: the version of Ant bundled with NetBeans, or with the command line? Does NetBeans improve the performance of Ant in any respect?
There is no difference. NetBeans just runs a standard Apache Ant release.
NetBeans runs Ant in the same VM, which reduces startup overhead a little bit, but this only matters for very brief Ant runs.
Note that the maximum heap size will thus be that of the IDE, so if your script requires an unusually large amount of heap, you may need to give the IDE itself more heap in netbeans.conf. You could also see FaqOutofMemoryOnCompile.
