Dr. Andreas Stefik is one of the newest members of the NetBeans Dream Team. He is a professor at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where he teaches and conducts research related to computer programming languages, compilers, general human-computer interaction, and auditory technologies. His current project includes the creation of Sodbeans, an extension to the NetBeans platform that gives support for the Hop Programming language, and also adds significant support for the blind and visually impaired. For example, blind users in Sodbeans have programming sessions "narrated" to them, telling them aurally the value of variables, what functions have been called, or other relevant information.
